Out of Shape

So I joined a fitness club. Today was my second workout. But what really got me was that after 10 minutes I was huffing and puffing, while I watched a group of gray-haired women talking, laughing and telling stories as they were exercising at a much faster pace than I. Talk about humiliating.

Hello?

Here's how the conversation with my oldest went this morning:

Me: I love you honey. I know you'll do well on your test.

Him: Yep. I love you.

Me: You might want to grab your backpack.

Him: Yep. Bye.

Me: You might want to grab your backpack.

Him: OK

Me: (Voice slightly raised as now he is outside and closing the door) You might want to grab your backpack.

Him: OK Mom

Me: Ummm, you might want your backpack.

LONG PAUSE.....DOOR OPENING

Him: Mom where's my backpack

Locksmith

I can't tell you how many times my kids have shut their doors only to find themselves locked out. I'm getting pretty good at the credit card lock pick. Next time I'm going to time myself! I just might have found a new career path.

Write or Wrong

It really surprises me that I even have a blog. While science and mathematics always fascinated me, I have always despised writing. In high school, I would often skip days in which a paper was due -- only prolonging the misery, of course. But I had such an aversion to the entire idea of writing that the very thought would plague me during every activity.

You're probably wondering how I could miss so many days of school when my own mother was a teacher at the same institution. My theories range from the fact that she was too co-dependent to assert her authority over me to the more likely one that she just didn't feel like dealing with my overemotional teenaged meltdowns (generally consisting of crying and whining about how the world was against me)
